Update: 2025.01.27
Nakadana Onsen Nakadana-so, where Shimazaki Toson, a great writer of the Meiji period, was healed, is holding the "Hana-Asobi Style: Hina Dolls and Pressed Pictures" exhibition at the Harikoshi-tei villa on the same grounds.
The dolls are carefully hand-sewn one by one using old kimono and other fabrics.
In Fukuoka Prefecture, they are called "sagemon," in Shizuoka Prefecture "hina no tsurushidari," and in Yamagata Prefecture "kasabuku." Yanagawa in Fukuoka Prefecture, Inatori in Izu, and Sakata in Yamagata Prefecture are called the "three major tsurushidari in Japan.
All of the decorated hanging dolls were created by the proprietress of Nakadanasou.
There are many different schools of Hana-Asobi Hina, but the one displayed at Harikoshi-Tei is the "Hana-Asobi School".
Hana-Asobi style tsurushi-hina are made of "hon-chirimen" and "shoken" (pure silk), and each one is made by hand in the traditional process.
Harikoshi-tei offers a seasonal "Hina Gozen" to coincide with the display of the "Tsurushi Hina" dolls.
In addition to the gozen, a variety of soba noodles, homemade sweet dishes, and beverages are also available.
The coffee menu alone is also available.
Harikoshi-tei was the first building in Komoro City to be designated as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan.
It was originally an old house with a long history along the Hokkoku-kaido Road, which was used by pilgrims to Zenkoji Temple and the daimyo of the Hokuriku region.
Please enjoy the space where "tsurushi hina" as the Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival), a Japanese cultural event, and "Harikoshi-tei", a registered tangible cultural property, are in harmony.
